A year later:
Longing
In fact, I'm a little relieved. This portfolio is going to go back to where it used to be, and I'm going to start writing poetry again. I've realized I don't have the drive nor even the desire to start a career in photography. Or... really, a career in anything. There's only one thing I love enough to dedicate my life to, and it's not my career...Life is great, things have changed a lot. 2007 was a very, very difficult year, and 2008 is proving to be the best year of my life, though not without its balancing consequences. Bad shenanigans left over from last December have left me feeling a little alienated from my friends, and I haven't seen most of them since then. I miss almost all of them... one of them... I don't. I've met the love of my life, and he has made me happier than I have ever been... I am deeply thankful for him, and for everything that sets this year apart from the last. I will never be the same again - and while that has proven to be for the best, after last year, it's not without its downfalls, too.
Nonetheless, the rest of my life seems a much less scary place than it used to be. I'm coming to terms with the fact that I don't have the impetus to spend more money than I have to go to school for subjects I hate to spend eternity in a career that isn't worth what it pays.
The rumours of both my death and my disdain for my own friends are highly exaggerated.
Instead of counting candles,
Or tallying the years,
Contemplate your blessings,
As your birthday nears.
Consider special people
Who love you, and who care,
And others who’ve enriched your life
Just by being there.
Think about the memories
Passing years can never mar,
Experiences great and small
That have made you who you are.
Another year is a happy gift,
So cut your cake, and say,
"Instead of counting birthdays,
I count blessings every day!"

Love that lives in the heart cannot be so easily terminated by time. Even though the encounter is brief its impression shall last a lifetime. No one can change the direction of love that lives in the heart. If you have loved that in itself is the answer.
